Rock with Indigenous Australia

Inspire your audience with a very special experience combining the culture of Indigenous Australia with authentic Australian rock n’ roll music from bands such as INXS, Midnight Oil, Cold Chisel, Yothu Yindi and the Warrumpi Band. Rock and Roll Team Building has partnered with the incredibly talented duo ‘Apakatjah’ (pronounced Uppa-Cut-Ja) to design an interactive workshop featuring stirring harmonies and traditional instruments.

The workshop provides a creative and fun environment to engage, inspire, connect and develop people through the universal language of music. Amongst elements such as choir and rockstar performances this workshop includes the construction of an original song using the theme of the event as the title. In addition, an interactive percussion session utilising the Aboriginal instrument ‘clap sticks’ will have all audience members working together to provide rhythmic accompaniment for legendary songs from Yothu Yindi and the Warrumpi Band.

Kalei Gamiao

Wielding his ukulele like it will one day rule the world, Kalei Gamiao mesmerizes audiences with imaginative musicality and flawless execution.

This soft spoken young man can silence a talkative crowd as he delicately picks or fires away at his simple four-stringed instrument. Captivated by his skill and the ukulele’s versatility, expressions like “I was floored” or “he had me at the edge of my seat” are familiar responses from first time listeners who eagerly fall under the power of Kalei’s ukulele.

His ability to create sounds that are incredibly rich and full are even more amazing when you consider he only has two octaves to work with. Award winning ukulele master, Herb Ohta, Jr., summed it up best when he declared, “Kalei’s music and ukulele prowess will take the ukulele to new heights!”
